"...thinketh no evil..."

“Be of good cheer.”

“. . . thinketh no evil . . . “
               (1 Corinthians 13:5)

LET IT REST!

Ah! how many hearts on the brink of anxiety and disquietude,  by the simple sentence have been made calm and happy! Some proceeding has wounded us by its want of tact;  LET IT REST; no one will think of it again. A harsh or unjust sentence irritates us; LET IT REST;  whoever may have given vent to it will be pleased to see it forgotten. A painful scandal is about to estrange us from an old friend; LET IT REST, and thus preserve our charity and peace of mind. A suspicious look is on the point of cooling our affection; LET IT REST; Our look of trust will restore confidence. Fancy! we, who are so careful to remove the briars from  our pathway for fear they should wound, yet take pleasure in collecting and piercing our hearts with thorns  that meet us in our daily association with one another! How childish and unreasonable we are!

An evening walk...

The night before the super moon in August we took an evening walk. No mosquitoes in Toronto! !!!

...come...!!

“Be of good cheer.”
“Greatly desiring to see thee.” (2 Timothy 1:4)
"Do thy diligence to come shortly unto me.” (2 Timothy 4:9)
“Do Thy diligence to come before winter.” (2 Timothy 4:21)

Is there anyone you should visit today? How Paul wanted to see Timothy. He craved the kindness of a real friend, someone who also loved the Saviour, to share the burden of loneliness, to care. On the other hand, perhaps Paul knew how this visit would cheer Timothy, “Being mindful of his tears” (2 Timothy 1:4). The benefits of visitation are felt just as much or more by the visitor than the visited. (R.M.B.)

"Down in the human heart, crushed by the tempter,
Feelings lie buried that grace can restore;
Touched by a loving heart, wakened by kindness,
Chords that were broken will vibrate once more."

4 weeks today! !!

Four weeks today my son Phil is to come home. He has been gone four months,  26 days. I haven't heard his voice for 3 months. I really miss him. He is near Quito,  Ecuador helping missionaries.  He just got back from two weeks in the jungle. He has been sick but is recovering.

March 21!!!

As the earth rotates, the sun appears to sweep across the sky from east to west, and the path it follows changes from season to season. In the northern hemisphere the sun rises at its most southerly point in midwinter - this is known as the winter solstice (December 21st) - and in mid-summer at its most northerly - the summer solstice (June 21st). Midway between those dates the sun rises due east and sets due west on the spring equinox (March 21st) and the autumn equinox (September 23rd). On those dates the sun rises at 6 a.m. and sets at 6 p.m. all over the world - the word "equinox" is from the Latin meaning "equal night".
"That will be 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. where  I live! " ed.
