"Your faith groweth exceedingly, and the charity [love] of every one of you all toward each other aboundeth" (2 Thess. 1:3).

God wants His redeemed ones to "grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ," and as we learn of Him our faith will be increased. For we "grow in grace" by the Word of God received into our hearts and lives, and we are admonished to "desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby." The faith of the Thessalonians grew exceedingly because, as Paul tells them, "ye received the word of God which ye heard of us ... not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe." For "faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God." There is no growing faith or growth in grace apart from love for and obedience to the Word of God. And many times God permits troubles to come into our lives to test our reliance upon His Word, "that He might humble thee, and that He might prove thee, to do thee good at thy latter end," and "that He might make thee know that man doth not live by bread only, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of the Lord doth man live." It is thus that our "faith groweth exceedingly."

We grow as we feed on His Word;
We grow in knowledge of the Lord,
For we find Him there revealed to us,
On the pages of God's holy Word.

We are told to “consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works,” and to “exhort one another daily, while it is called Today; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.” “Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves. His name is Ronin Edward M. He weighed in at 10lbs. 13oz.! He was 21 1/2 inches long! He has dark, straight and curly black hair! He is doing ok and so is his Mom!!!
We are very thankful to God for his safe arrival!!!

Needed Needs

The circumstances in which we learn most are those which most expose our weaknesses. As a rule we are placed in circumstances which demand that which we are most defective in. We are set in such and such situations, not because we can handle them, or behave in them better than anyone else; but on the contrary, because we need to be invigorated by grace in the defects which they are fitted to expose. They disclose to us where we need grace, so that constantly we are failing where we are expected to excel. We are put there to cast us on the Lord, and to teach us that we can do nothing of ourselves.

If we could excel there, we should glory in our success, but when we find that we are placed in the very circumstances that, perhaps, more than any others expose our weakness, we then see that we have no hope of being able to stand or succeed, unless we obtain grace to do so. I am not placed where I could excel most, but subjected to those difficulties in which I can best know my need of grace, and best learn dependence.

If I could get on without grace, I should grow elated with myself. But when I find that unless the Lord maintains me I shall surely fail, then I am humbled as to myself while at the same time deepened in dependence which the demand of my circumstances has, in a way, forced on me; and having learned the blessing of dependence, instead of regretting the difficulties which made it necessary to seek help, I am the more cheered and encouraged to go on in them.

For learning or service every one is placed where there is demand on him. The boy at school is not in the easy circumstances of home or the playground. The horse in harness is not in the ease of being in the stable or at grass.

The situations we are subjected to are the ones in which we can best learn and be most useful. It is not because we have nothing to learn or nothing to do for others. If we had naught to learn, there would be no difficulty in the lessons required of us every day. The fact that there is difficulty in them proves that we are not proficient, and that it is necessary that we should be subjected to that which discloses to us what we require to learn, or to draw from us what we can render.

Your weakness is exposed that you may acquire strength, and having received of the Lord, you will then be called on to render unto others — to comfort others, as you have been comforted of God; so that whether learner or servant, you are always set in circumstances where there is exaction, and not ease. If the learner were to keep at the same lesson always he might feel his difficulty over, but so would his learning be over.

Are you learning? Are you useful? Whenever you are either, you will find that you are in exacting circumstances, and therefore not those where you are most at home and at your ease; but the more you turn them to profit, the more you are learning of grace, and the more useful you are in sharing what you have acquired.

Cedar waxwing spa weekend!

This pole has now been replaced by a new one. But this is the pole that Dan's car hit last month. He was hit by an SUV and then slammed into the pole, knocking it down, but he was not hurt much at all, just a few bruises. We are very thankful to God for His care.

Soon it will be really spring...got a foot of snow left to go on the lawn yet!

Lake is still frozen solid. Trucks and fisherman were still out on the lake. We saw chickadees and cedar waxwings at the cottage. The waxwings were taking baths in the melted snow on the top tire on the hill! This is last year's picture but it shows the tire where the birds were bathing, right where Kaitlyn is standing. It was fun to see the birds at their little "spa"! I suppose the water was warmed up a little by the sun and the black tire!

This little goat's name is Angel. He was an unwanted little goat- rejected by his mother. So these kind folk brought him in to stay with a kinder goat in the makeshift barn in the garage when it was sooooo cold here, and brought him in to the kitchen to be bottle fed. He is sooooo cute! And affectionate! Such fun! As much fun as a tea party!!!

How to drink tea...

Somedays, two hands are needed to drink tea. One to hold the cup and the other to help holding the cup and one's cheek to make sure the tea goes in at the right spot. This is a handy trick for young and old.

And now for that recipe. Let's see now... was it two eggs and 1/2 cup of butter? I think so. You add that to the cake mix, and then spoon out the dough in little globs on the cookie sheet, then cook at 350. Then eat with tea of course. Tootaloo....

A favourite, large rock was found missing by P last spring.How many years had it been sitting on the side of the hill?All our children played on the rock. It was one of their favourite activities at the lake. Now it blocks our favourite entrance to the beach. But we made a path around it. When you enlarge this picture, you can see the rock on the right, behind the fir tree. This picture was taken last year before the rock fell.

Another wedding in the family....!

Here we all are, the C. side at P. and M.'s wedding. A few members of the
extended family are not there, but our little family is there, even our two
grandchildren!!!! It was a lovely day outside!

Ben and Lisa are married!

We had the priviledge of going to Ben and Lisa's wedding last Saturday! It was a very nice time for all of us! This is a picture of them on a chair/swing at the front while they listened to Tim speak. We had much fun this weekend!

A Trip to the Motherwell Homestead

We enjoyed a trip back in time to the Motherwell Homestead. A beautiful stone house very similar to the one our children's great grandmother lived in , back in the early 1900's. It was named the "Landmark Place" after the county the owners came from, back near Perth, Ontario.

Summer has come! It is fun to see the kids having fun in the good old sprinkler! We have had a cool, wet spring and now that summer is here, we are looking forward to some warmer weather! Two sleeping beauties!!

The Knarly Tree Trunk

Robin on Nest

This robin was on its nest early this spring but unfortunately
left it and there are 3 little eggs inside. Each time we have gone back to the cottage, the eggs remain, but no mother robin! She built this nest in the kids fort, against some deer antlers that were stuck up there.

Landscape

Your life's like a landscape and God has the brush.
The work is in progress, He's not in a rush.
Each stroke has a purpose, nothing's by chance.
To see all His wisdom takes more than a glance.
Notice the sunbeams that shine on the dew --
Even the clouds can't keep them from view.
Look at the pathway that turns at the hill --
Its course will reveal what's next in His will.
The stream that's flowing with water so blue
Is bringing down blessings meant just for you.
The trees that are planted close to the stream
Will bring forth more fruit than you've ever seen.
The bird in the nest with mouth opened wide
Is just a reminder that God will provide.
Now look at the sheep in the meadow that's near
And notice the Shepherd that keeps them from fear.
He's brought them to pastures which give forth the best,
That cool and refresh, and keep them in rest.
The eagle above, that soars o'er the gale
Is God's way of saying, "My strength will not fail."
That part of the painting which now seems unclear
Will take on new meaning with each passing year.
So trust God to work in His own perfect way
And rejoice in the beauty He's painting today.

The Weaver

My life is but a weaving,
Between my God and I.
I do not choose the colors,
He worketh steadily.
Ofttimes He weaveth sorrow,
And I in foolish pride
Forget He sees the upper,
And I the underside.

Not till the loom is silent,
And the shuttles cease to fly,
Will God unroll the canvas,
And explain the reasons why
The dark threads are as needful
In the skillful weaver's hand,
As threads of gold and silver
In the pattern He has planned.

He knows, He loves, He cares,
Nothing this truth can dim.
He gives His very best to those,
Who leave the choice with Him.
